We are committed to adding value to Turkish people
Today, our founder Halil Kaya Gedik's principle of “Giving back to the system called life, being useful to the system” constitutes the philosophy of Gedik Education Foundation. This philosophy guides us in all our activities to contribute to the development of our country. Founded in 1994, our foundation has been renewing and developing its activities in the fields of education, social responsibility and culture and arts in line with the developing needs since then.
We train competent young people with Istanbul Gedik University and Gedik Vocational School.
With Gedik Sanat, we contribute to the spread of philharmonic and chamber music in our country and to the recognition of Turkish composers and their works worldwide.
Within the International Institute of Welding (IIW), where academics and representatives of non-profit organizations interested in welding science around the world are members, we present the Halil Kaya Gedik Special Award every year to names who have contributed to welding science with innovative products and methodologies in the world and support their work.
To date, we have provided scholarships to hundreds of young people, built schools and dormitories, looked after children with special needs, used our experience in the industry to provide hands-on training through Istanbul Gedik University, and worked and continue to work to raise our young people as competent individuals.
Women should be equally present in work and social life
As a second generation representative of Gedik and a woman industrialist, I attach particular importance to the education of women and their participation in business and social life. Through our Foundation, we are carrying out very important work in this area.
In today's world of challenges, I believe that women need support more than ever. Wars all over the world have stronger repercussions for women than for men. In order to empower women in difficult and uncertain times, I believe in the importance of supporting their participation in business life, providing them with vocational training and education so that they can climb the career ladder faster and more easily. I believe that women's leadership should also increase in decision-making mechanisms. A sustainable future for societies is possible with more women in decision-making positions, and women of all generations should fight for the empowerment of the women of the generations that come after them.
Let's work together for a prosperous society
Young people, women and individuals with special needs face inequalities in participation in economic and social life. As Gedik Education Foundation, we strive for a prosperous society where all individuals enjoy equal rights through education, production and sharing.
We consider it our duty to carry out all kinds of activities that will contribute to society and therefore to human beings by organizing trainings in the fields that society needs, empowering women in working life, conducting social activities in line with the needs of individuals with special needs, and carrying out activities in different art fields within the Gedik Art organization.
With this vision and mission, we believe that we can move our society forward together by educating, producing and sharing. Therefore, we will prioritize expanding our spheres of influence in the new period. You can now also contribute to the work of Gedik Education Foundation. You can support our projects and activities as a “GEV volunteer”.
Let's expand our circles of influence together to give more back to the system called life and to be more beneficial to the system.
Best regards
Hülya Gedik
