The Welded Metal Sculpture Competition, organized by the Gedik Education Foundation in line with its mission of social contribution, supporting art, and encouraging the creative potential of young people, is open to associate, undergraduate, and graduate students from all universities across Türkiye.

Through this competition, the aesthetic and technical potential of metal will meet young artists, aiming to produce original works of art created using welding technologies. At the same time, the competition aims to sustain and develop Türkiye’s heritage in the fields of welding and art.

Competition Theme: UNITY

“Unity”, inspired by the joining of metal through welding, symbolizes harmony in diversity, solidarity, and integration. Participants are expected to reflect this theme not only formally but also intellectually and emotionally through original works.

Material and Technique

  • Material: Metal
  • Technique: Welding technique (mandatory)
  • The longest side of the sculpture must not exceed 100 cm.
  • Works suitable for indoor display, portable, durable, and ready for exhibition are expected.

Awards

A total of 8 awards will be given. The winners will receive both cash prizes and in-kind awards (professional welding machines).

Who Can Apply?

The competition is open to all students studying at associate, undergraduate, or graduate levels at universities in Türkiye (each participant may apply with only one artwork).

Competition Schedule

  • Application Dates: August 8 – September 8, 2025
  • Preliminary Selection and Jury Evaluation: September 10, 2025
  • Announcement of Finalists and Selected Works for Exhibition: September 12, 2025
  • Production Process of the Works: September 12 – November 17, 2025
  • Delivery of Produced Works: November 17 – November 28, 2025
  • Final Jury Evaluation: December 10, 2025
  • Exhibition Opening and Award Ceremony: December 19, 2025 (The Exhibition Opening and Award Ceremony will be held on December 19, 2025 at Istanbul Gedik University, Halil Kaya Gedik Campus.)

** The exhibition will be open to visitors between December 19, 2025 and January 19, 2026.

How to Apply?

Applications will be made through the online form. Required documents:

  • Signed specification document
  • Student certificate (approved by the faculty)
  • Copy of ID card
  • Sketch/drawing of the sculpture to be designed
  • Images of 2 previously created sculptures/designs

Exhibition and Catalogue

Award-winning works and those selected for exhibition:

  • Will be displayed in physical or digital exhibitions.
  • May be shared on promotional materials, catalogues, and social media platforms.

Intellectual Property Rights

All intellectual and industrial property rights of the awarded works will be transferred to the Gedik Education Foundation. Participants will be deemed to have accepted these terms.
